Filmed in 1996, this documentary features exclusive footage of Malta's most renowned playwright and distinguished novelist, Francis Ebejer, recorded in 1992 shortly before his death.
Rather than merely examining his literary works, the film offers an intimate portrait of the man himself, exploring the experiences, influences, and sensitivities that shaped one of Malta's most significant cultural figures.
Produced on a shoestring budget - equivalent to €2000 - the documentary received Malta's highest broadcasting honour at the 1998 Programmes Awards of the Malta Broadcasting Authority. The jury was "unanimous in its praise", describing the production as an outstanding achievement.
Created by Malcolm Scerri-Ferrante, it features interviews with Karmen Azzopardi (actress), Dr Paul Xuereb (theatre critic), Maurice Tanti Burlo (television producer), Josephine Zammit Cordina (actress), Damian Ebejer (Francis Ebejer's son), Dr Brita Kattner (producer), Charles Thake (actor), and Franz Galea (bar owner).
