Budgeting your script

Experienced producers know that accurately determining the true cost of a production before closing financing is not optional. It is essential. Complimentary budgets from service providers and quick ballpark estimates from accountants are not substitutes for a professionally prepared budget. Cost-cutting at this stage routinely leads to avoidable and costly overruns in production.

The PCP can confidently claim it is the leading expert on Malta for preparing professional production budgets for film and television in Malta and other select territories.  PCP's lead producer is a recognised tutor by Entertainment Partners and occasionally conducts courses in budgeting and MMB.  

All budgets are delivered in Movie Magic Budgeting (MMB) format and, where applicable, include full calculations of available local tax incentives and/or rebates.

Budgeting fees are determined by the scale and complexity of the production, the level of detail required, and whether a script breakdown and production schedule have already been prepared.

Commercials

Producers preparing commercial bids may request a ballpark figure from PCP at no charge. This exercise is usually sufficient to understand if the demands of the board are affordable.  For detailed budgets the PCP charges a nominal fee, with a turnaround is usually 24 hours during weekdays.  This fee is refunded once the project materialises.
